This piece is part of a collection of virtuoso cornet solos from the mid-nineteenth century, the golden age of the cornet. It is a typical theme and variations with great flourishes to show off the soloists technical prowess. It has been arranged featuring a cornet solo with brass quartet rather than piano as accompaniment.
