Various combinations of brass instruments have been used together for hundreds of years. With great symphonic repertoire comes the potential for transcriptions and arrangements for a large brass choir. The famous German Brass, Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the Summit Brass are just a few examples of truly successful brass choirs. Brass choirs are not to be confused with brass bands which have a standard instrumentation. Brass choirs employ the use of many pitched trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, and percussionists in various combinations.
